Academic Route
I first enrolled in Computer
Engineering in the distant year of 1995. At the time I had
no idea it would be a marathon instead of a short
run.
During this time I've done quite a lot
of things, several of them you can check on this
site. About 2-3 years ago I decided it was time to come back
full-time and go for my M.Sc. and so I did. I've recently
got my final grades after defending my thesis
work.
During these years I aqquired skills on
several programming languages, operative systems, maths,
physics, management, computer graphics, databases, multimedia,
team leadership, information systems, artificial intelligence,
electronics, privacy and copyright laws, software engineering,
and through my other activities a ton of soft skills.
Extra-Curricular Activities
Trainings
The new students entering the
Faculty of Engineering usually lacked Unix or networking
skills that would allow them to use the Faculty computer
resources at their full extent. It was decided to give initial
trainings to the newcomers to Electrical Engineering and
Informatics Engineering.
I belonged to the group that
planned the the training sessions as well a writing the
manuals and lecturing the sessions.
IEEE
Member of the Institute of
Electrical and Electronics Engineers Student Branch from
1996 till 2001. Chairman from 1998 until 2000.
Co-Organiser
of several Fairs and Conferences while at the Student
Branch.
BEST
Founding member of the local
delegation of the Board of European Students of Technology
together with a Civil Eng. student. Active member from 1996
until 1999, and acting as Best Alumni since then. Still in
touch with their activities. Co-organized several workshops,
meetings and 2-week academic courses. Represented the local
delegation of Best at the Annual General Assemblies of
Belgium, Romania and Portugal (1997, 98 & 99).
Wine Course
Took a short Wine Course at the
University of Valladolid (Spain). Only student to get a
diploma with honors.
JOMED
Invited Consultant for IT at the 1st. JOMED
(Jornadas Médicas) in Coimbra, a national symposium for
recently graduated medical
doctors. |
